Players and their union representatives met Friday to discuss how to prevent future brain injuries.
The union is working to establish a national database for concussion research.
They also are discussing ways to help prevent concussions.
In addition to the players’ association meeting, union representatives also met with NFL Commissioner Roger Goodell and the NFL Players Association.
The meeting comes a day after Goodell and other league executives announced they were reaching a deal on a concussion protocol that will require players to have a concussion assessment every six months.
The deal also allows the union to negotiate higher pay and other benefits for players.
The NFLPA said it plans to discuss a proposal on players’ wages, including whether the union should be allowed to negotiate a contract.
In a statement, the union said it was looking forward to discussing its bargaining position.
The league and the players union are in the midst of negotiations to create a new protocol that allows the NFLPA to negotiate with the NFL.
