The association says that during the holiday season, Canadians should spend time in physical education (PE) classes, with parents to ensure that students are doing their best.
For parents, PE classes can help students gain the confidence to talk with their parents, to explore their interests, and to express their emotions, according to the association.
In addition, parents can use PE classes to explore a child’s interests and to help the child develop self-confidence and self-esteem, said Dr. Jody Liew, the association’s chair of public health.
The group says PE classes are also an excellent way for students to explore and engage with the community, including by making new friends.
